the Trait-map test effectively measures human personality

What does the Trait-map report reveal about an employee’s personality at work? (Part 1)

1. What does the Trait-map® report show?

First, you need to understand that the scores measured in the Trait-map personality report reflect the traits hidden within you. They may differ from the way you behave, because in addition to personality, behavior also depends on education, skills, context, and so on. Therefore, when you read this report, you will see a different “person” within yourself.

The scales in the report provide a representation that helps you clearly see your personality tendencies. Therefore, they are not judgments, but simply a means of identification.

From the perspective provided by the Trait-map® report, individuals and organizations will no longer have a vague understanding of themselves or their personnel. Instead, they will have clear assessments supported by data and evidence from the past. This identification reflects behavior, skill expression, communication, teamwork, and even leadership style, which is particularly evident in leaders, department heads, and team leaders.

2. What do the scales in the Trait-map report mean?

Personality analysis based on the Big Five model.

The Big Five is the most widely accepted and used model for describing personality in modern psychology. It focuses on five personality traits: (1) emotional stability, (2) extraversion, (3) agreeableness, (4) conscientiousness, (5) openness.

Using a numerical scale for assessment, with the behavioral score on the left and the behavioral score on the right, you can easily identify the person’s characteristic personality tendencies. Scores of 1 or 10 indicate strong expressions, while the average score is 5.5 (a neutral expression with no particularly prominent tendency).

The Trait-map report uses this model to describe and analyze participants’ personalities and behavior. To help you understand this better, we will analyze the image below.

In the figure above, you will see that the five main factors/points are five characteristics personality of the Big Five. Different scales and color conventions make them easy to identify. The left columns (left-score behavior) and right columns (right-score behavior) represent behavioral tendencies that may occur.

Based on the example above, we can see that:

Emotional stability 1 point: Their left-score behavior is very high, in contrast to their right-score behavior. This indicates that they become easily angered or lose control when faced with conflict or situations that affect their emotions.

Extraversion 3 points: This left-score behavior indicates that they are introverted, with little need for socializing or external interaction. They tend to prefer their own space and feel safe there. Opposite the left score is the right-score behavior, which expresses extraversion.

Agreeableness 3 points: Once again, this left-score behavior indicates that they highly value their personal space and are not easily influenced by the outside world. They seem to be highly aware of their responsibilities and work and do not allow the environment to affect them significantly.

Concentration 9 points: Right-score behavior indicates a high level of focus on their tasks. Once they have identified their goal, they will make every effort to achieve it. In contrast, left-score behavior represents a work style driven by inspiration and unwilling to accept constraints.

Openness 6 points: Their behavior leans slightly toward the right score, which can still be considered neutral. They are the type of person who pays a certain amount of attention to the relationships around them and is receptive to information, but they are not the type to share with everyone they meet.

Given their susceptibility to emotional influence, introversion, relatively low agreeableness, and moderate openness, would placing this person in a service or customer care position be appropriate? Or would they be better suited to project-based work requiring a high level of concentration?

At work, personality and behavioral characteristics are highly complex and subtle. They are much more difficult to grasp than what we see on the surface. Therefore, the Trait-Map report further analyzes these five behavioral personality traits into 25 factors or characteristics. To help you understand this report thoroughly and in detail, we will provide the next installment. Analyzing Personality Traits.
