IKIGAI AND HOW TO FULFILL YOUR LIFE’S PURPOSE

In the previous article, you discovered your Ikigai and life purpose . This article is the next step toward bringing your Ikigai to life and applying it to your everyday life.

1. 04 steps to embrace your Ikigai.

Step 1. Create small goals

You have now thought of several possible solutions for your life or work; use them to create specific annual goals. For example: getting promoted to manager, changing your business location, or starting a web design business…

Once you have written down your annual goals, create smaller monthly goals to help you achieve them. The important thing is to take one step at a time until you reach your long-term goal.

For example, if your annual goal is to be promoted to manager, you can set monthly goals. These might include meeting with your senior manager to create a plan, attending leadership development training, and taking on greater daily responsibilities.

Step 2. Make a plan

Next, use your monthly goals to create weekly—or even daily—goals.

For example, if your monthly goal is to attend leadership development training, your first weekly goal could be researching reputable training programs. Your second weekly goal could be scheduling Zoom meetings with potential mentors.

Now that you have a list of long-term and short-term goals, organize them using a chart, calendar, or notebook.

What you use does not matter, as long as you have a dedicated place for your plans. You can refer to them regularly and always be ready to take action.

Step 3. Create a support system

When it comes to finding your purpose, a support system is invaluable.

To create a support system, connect with mentors, coaches, teachers, and other professionals who have achieved similar goals. You can also join forces with people who are working toward the same goals.

Nurture your relationships and network, and learn as much as possible from your support system.

Step 4. Check in

Now that you have completed your formal plan, it is time to test it. Are you achieving your short-term and long-term goals? Is anything bothering you? What is happening?

Can you answer “yes” to all of these questions right now? If not, it may be time to reassess your goals and plans. A good question to ask at this point is, “Am I focusing on what I should do or what I want to do?”

Time is something you can organize. With creativity, you can extend and arrange it to suit your needs.
